hey found your blog after searching for Solaris + Nehalem. You got some great material here, will have to come back read very carefully!
Also, I am an Oracle on Solaris guy for the past 12 years, and I did a bit of Dynix on Sequent back in the 90s!
So I want to buy one of them new-fangled 2-socket Xeon X5570-based systems and it comes with 12 x 2GB DIMMs @ 1333Mhz each. is that the OPTIMAL memory config? Vendor tried to change my order to 1066Mhz 12x4GB DIMMs.
If 24GB will suffice for your needs I’d certainly rather choose 12x 1333MHz sticks. For Oracle, however, the difference between the 1066 and 1333 parts is not really all the significant. That is, of course, only my assessment.
Dynix… you are aging yourself
Thanks for stopping by.
