Reinventing Inventions. Deja Vu.
My old friend Glenn Fawcett sent me a link to a list of historical key technological Solaris platform enhancements for Oracle. After thanking him for that I (no surprise) felt compelled to point out which items on that list had been implemented in Sequent DYNIX/ptx on average 3 years prior to being implemented in Solaris. 
Although neither of us spoke the words, but were likely thinking nonetheless, it’s interesting how many of the items on the list emerged in Linux on average several years after the Solaris rendition hit the streets.
Glenn successfully completed his ex-Sequent 12-step program many years ago. I was not as successful it seems.

Now that Oracle will soon own SPARC, is there now an increased emphasis on SPARC/Solaris vs x64/Linux? We’re going to be purchasing servers soon, and it is tough to know what to do.
